Friedrich Kittler - and critique of Digital Economy

I wrote a short piece for the Guardian to commemorate the fantastic German media theorist Friedrich Kittler who recently passed away. His legacy cannot be easily summed up, even if the terms often used refer to his material and historical emphasis on media culture analysis.

At the same time, we can learn a lot of inspiring ideas from his media theory; critique of the corporate led Digital Economy discourse, and to expand the Digital Humanities debate by pointing out the longer histories, archaeologies, of science-arts-humanities-interaction. This, of course, is a matter of education policy as well, and through what kind of frameworks are we even able to posit the question of Digital Economy - or Digital Culture.
